May 2009 Chapter Officers--2009 Pres: Hamilton---1st VP:----Weigle---2nd VP:---Mattheus Secy: Reid----Treas:--Carriere THE PAST: APRIL CAMPOUT: Our April campout was held on April 17-19, 2009 at Lion Country Safari KOA in West Palm Beach with the Keene's as our wagonmasters. A few of us went out to eat on Thursday night at a local restaurant, they had really good food, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We all were parked very close to the lion cages, so it did get noisy as the lions were roaring and banging on their cages. Most of us went into Lion Country Safari on Friday morning, we saw a lot of animals including a baby rhino, he was so cute, we rode on the ferris wheel and then went to feed the giraffes, that was fun. We came back for lunch, then went into the park again, there is always something different to see everytime you drive through. Friday night we all sat at the Keene's trailer and had ice-cream, cookies and brownie's. Saturday morning and afternoon mostly everyone went a few times through Lion Country. Saturday night we had a covered dish supper, everything was delicious. We invited a young couple Robert Perez and Ursula to join us, they have a new Starcraft, and are interested in joining our club, we hope that they will come camping with us soon. Sunday morning we had bagels, juice and coffee. The 50/50 was won by Sylvia Reid. This was a fun weekend, everyone really enjoyed driving through the park and seeing all the different animals 6 Units Attending: Carriere with grandaughter Kayla, and great-grandaughter Kirsten, Keene, Mattheus, Reid, Scott, Weigle **************************************************************************** ************** MAY CAMPOUT: Our May campout was held on May 8-10, 2009 at Lake Monroe County Park in Debary with the Hamilton's as our wagonmasters. It was good to have Bill & Betty Cox back camping with us, Betty is doing a lot better since her fall two months ago. Those that came in on Thursday were treated to homemade funnel cakes made by Wilma Carroll, they were really good. Friday night we had an assortment of delicious pies provided by our wagonmasters, they were all so good. Saturday afternoon we had ice-cream and brownies, which really was great as it was a very warm afternoon. Saturday evening we celebrated John Hamilton's 65th birthday, many of John and Linda's friends and family also joined us. Our dinner was catered by Sonny's Restaurant, we had salad, beef & pork, baked beans, baked potato and garlic bread, everything was delicious. For dessert there were three cakes to choose from, lemon, orange and carrot cake, I think everyone took a taste of each one, all of them were really yummy. Thank you LInda for all of your hard work, it was a fun party, and we all enjoyed celebrating John's birthday with you.
