Carriere---1st VP--Depoy--2nd VP--Hamilton Secy--Reid---Treas---Carroll THE PAST: JUNE CAMPOUT Our June campout was held at Wekiwa Springs State Park in Longwood with the Depoy's as our wagonmasters. Friday afternoon a few members went to Longwood to see the the tallest cypress tree in America. Friday night we had ice-cream and brownies, we all enjoyed that as it was very warm out. Saturday afternoon a lot of members went to the springs for a cool dip, while others took a canoe ride down the river. Some went to the city of Mount Dora, a quaint town with lots of antique and gift shops. Saturday evening Monica & JIm made pulled pork for dinner. Everyone brought side dishes to go with the meal, everything was delicious, thank you Monica & Jim. We had a shocking experience happen on Friday afternoon, Wally & June's little terrier dog Nikki was viciously attacked by a pit bull dog that broke away from the chain that he was tied up to. Nikki was taken to the animal hospital where she underwent surgery for numerous wounds to her body. She is home now and Wally says that she has recovered quite well. We hope to see Wally & June and Nikki camping with us real soon. The 50/50 was won by Monica Depoy 7 Units Attending: Apathy, Carriere, Carroll, Depoy, with daughter Jamie, Keene, Reid, Weigle. Guest members, Peschel, and drive in members, Hamilton. ****************************************************************************** JULY-- INTERNATIONAL RALLY: 6 units attended this year's Rally in Lebanon, Tennessee, most of us got to the Rally on Friday. Saturday morning we went into Nashville and walked around downtown, we saw Charlie Daniel's Museum which was very interesting. Later in the evening we went to the Grand Old Opry, which was very entertaining, Ricky Skaggs, Bill Anderson, and a few other singers performed. It rained all night, but by Sunday afternoon it was beautiful, then it turned cooler, sitting out at night was really comfortable. Barbara Kruger had hurt her knee before she got to the Rally and was walking with crutches, she had a tough time getting around but she managed and still enjoyed herself at the Rally. A few of us played some of the games, Sylvia Reid and her team came in second place playing Bocce, Some also played Bean Bag Baseball, and Washer Toss. We had some good entertainment on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The last night of the Rally Florida participated in the Chapter Game, Bill Cox, Bill Humphrey, John & Sylvia Reid, Bob & Geraldine Scott, and Don & Donna Weigle. We sang the Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffet song "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" Florida put on a very good performance, we should have won, but the state of Alabama won first place. Later that night we played Bingo, Sylvia Reid won $5, Mary Humphreys won $10, and Joyce Neilson won the big jackpot of $242, congratulations. 6 Units Attending: Cox, Humphreys, Kruger, Reid, Scott, Weigle ****************************************************************************** AUGUST CAMPOUT: In August we went to Sanlan Ranch RV Resort in Lakeland. We had storms and lots of rain off and on all day Friday. Friday evening some of our group went to Fred's buffet for dinner. Later we gathered in the rec hall for ice-cream and cookies. The Carrier's brought their photo album from their recent Alaska Cruise which they thoroughly enjoyed. Saturday morning everyone went for breakfast at the S&L restaurant where their daily special was $2.98. They advertise the best hamburgers in town, so at least one of us had a hamburger for breakfast. Later some went to the Auburndale Flea Market, and other's to a Winery store in Plant City, the rest of us just sat around under a big shade tree and socialized. Saturday evening we went back to the rec hall to play cards and dominoes, and we finished off the rest of the ice-cream that was left over. Sunday morning we had a continental breakfast and our club meeting. We received an e-mail from the Keene's that their dog Nikki was doing much better and getting back to normal again. We had some guests attend this campout. Renee & George Rothrock who were former members of our club, and new members Sylvia & Ed Groleske who purchased one of the new Starcraft Silver Streams. The Rothrock"s grandson and Monica & Jim's daughter Jamie and her friend Jason also attended. The 50/50 was won by John Hamilton. 6 Units Attending: Carriere, Cox, Depoy, Groleske, Hamilton, Weigle. We were all thankful that Hurricane Ike didn't come to Florida so we could enjoy our campout on the beach. Friday was windy but it felt good, it kept us all cool, a few went on the gambling ship Sun Cruz in the morning, and a few others went to the movies to see "Mamma Mia". Friday night we had ice-cream, and brownies, then most of us went down and sat on the beach, the moon was up shining on the water, it was a lovely evening. Saturday morning we had our community breakfast, everything was delicious, later we had our club meeting. We welcomed new members Cleo & Cesar Paez from Beverly Hills. It was good to see John & Martha Wiley back camping with us, we have missed them. After breakfast a bunch of us went down to the beach to swim, it was a beautiful sunny and warm day,and the wind had died down so you could go into the water. Saturday night we again went down and sat on the beach, we watched some cruise ships go out, and enjoyed the cool air. Sunday morning we had donuts, and then had our 50/50 which was won by Jim Depoy. 11 Units: Carriere, with son Jay, grandchildren, Greg, Seth, and Ansley, Carroll, Depoy, Groleske, Hamilton with grandson, Jonathan, Mattheus, Neilson, Paez, Reid, Weigle, ****************************************************************************** NOTE: Barbara Kruger had surgery done on her knee in August and she is recovering very well, she will be camping with us in October. ****************************************************************************** WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Ed & Sylvia Groleske, 587 Village Blvd. Frostproof, Fl. 33843 Cell # 863-605-2044, _e-mail--edsyl58@yahoo.com_ (mailto:e-mail--edsyl58@yahoo.com) Cesar & Cleo Paez, 5789 N.
