This is a really a beautiful park, mostly everyone had a site right by the water where we could see alligators, turtles, fish jumping, and lots of exotic birds. We even got to see two bald eagles perching on top of a tree, Wilma got some really nice pictures of them. Some of the guys enjoyed fishing right by their campsite. On Friday some went to see a local winery in Alva, while others did some sightseeing at Pine Island, later we all met at Alva's Diner for dinner, the food was very good. Friday night we sat by Bob & Geraldine's trailer and had ice-cream and pound cake.Saturday morning it was raining so we went to the pavillion and had our community breakfast, everything was delicious as usual. The rain stopped and most of us went to the Polish-German Club for their annual Oktoberfest, they had two tents with music and entertainment, and plenty of different kinds of food, some of us even got up and did a little dancing. Saturday night we had a campfire going as it was getting a little cooler.Geraldine brought out popcorn for everyone. Sunday morning it was quite cold, Geraldine & Bob made breakfast for all of us, we had a Venezuelan cheese filled pancake called an Arepa, we also had sausage and apple chunks and pastries. Everything was very tasty, thank you Bob & Geraldine for a great weekend. The 50/50 was won by Donna Weigle 8 Units Attending: Carriere, Carroll, Hamilton, Keene, Reid, Scott, Weigle, Wiley,.guest members Peshel **************************************************************************** *************************************************** NOVEMBER CAMPOUT: For the November campout we went back to Sanlan Ranch RV in Lakeland with the Club Officers as our wagonmasters. The weekend started out cool and windy, Friday night we all went to the clubhouse for assorted pies along with hot chocolate and apple cider, later some of us played Sequence, and some played Hand and Foot. Saturday was a beautiful day to sit out in the sun, it was cool and the wind was gone. Wilma's grandchildren Katie & Aaron came by to show us a miniature horse, he was so cute, he was even smaller than the dog that came along with them.We had a hot dog lunch along with potato salad, chips, and leftover pies for dessert, everything seems to taste better when you eat them outdoors.. Saturday night the club officers provided our meal of rotisserie chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, deviled eggs, and baked beans. For dessert, we had a birthday cake for Don Weigle who will be celebrating his 70th birthday this month. Everyone brought wrapped gifts, and names were called to pick out what they wanted, if they didn't want that gift they could exchange it with someone else. I think mostly eveyone was happy with the gift that they chose. We also played a new dice game called LCR, it is played with chips or money we played with nickels, some won the center pot a few times, it is a fun game. Sunday morning we had an assortment of danish. That was followed by our club meeting, we elected two new officers for 2010 President----Linda Hamilton---1st VP----Wilma & James Carroll---2nd VP--Joy Mattheus---Secretary----Donna Weigle---Treasurer---Diane Carriere.
